SENIORS' WORKSHOP: Join fellow Liberals and friends to discuss solutions to Seniors' Care and Housing: What do Liberals expect for seniors' care? What are liberal solutions? Who is accountable? What policies are required? Speakers: Carol Wodak and Kevin Taron. SENIORS' COMMISSION DELEGATE SELECTION MEETING TO THE LPCA POLICY CONFERENCE IN LETHBRIDGE The Liberal Party of Canada in Alberta is holding its biennial AGM and policy conference in Lethbridge April 30th to May 2nd, 2010. Only Delegates will be able to vote for LPCA Officers and policy resolutions although all liberal are invited to attend. Seniors' Delegates must be Members of the Liberal Party of Canada over 65 years of age whose membership is in good standing as of February 13, 2010. Those interested are asked to advise Doug McDonald, President of the Senior Liberal's Commission of Alberta at (780) 488-0768. Nominations will also be accepted from the floor at the meeting.

The University of Calgary Liberal Association presents "Death by Chocolate" with Special Guest the Hon.Dominic LeBlanc , MP Beauséjour and Liberal Critic for Justice and the Attorney-General. Mr. LeBlanc was elected to the House of Commons in November 2000, and was a leadership candidate in 2008. As the son of a former Governor General, Mr. LeBlanc brings a lifetime of political experience with him including serving on the Special Committee on Non-Medical Use of Drugs, The Standing Committees on Fisheries and Oceans, Transport and Government Operations, National Defence and Veterans Affairs, and Public Accounts, Procedures and House Affairs, and International Trade. Additionally, he has served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of National Defence and was Chair of the Atlantic Caucus. The recently announced Canada at 150 conference will be the most open, transparent and inclusive debate about Canada’s future that has ever been conducted by a Canadian political party. Every aspect of the conference will be designed to engage grassroots Liberals and all Canadians from coast-to-coast-to-coast. In the lead-up to the conference our Caucus, candidates and Party officials will proactively engage our broader membership using consultative tools that range from town halls to our “En Famille” community and the Conference Website. Though the physical conference will take place in Montreal from March 26 to 28, 2010, the proceedings will be webcast live and we will encourage our ridings and Provincial / Territorial Associations to organize local gatherings across Canada so that Liberals everywhere will have the opportunity to participate in the conference remotely. Following the conference, the Party’s Platform and Policy Committee will facilitate a process that will integrate these discussions into the party’s policy development process in accordance with the Party’s constitution.

TO THE NORTHERN ALBERTA LIBERAL PARTY MEMBERSHIP: On March 26th to 28th, 2010, Michael Ignatieff, Leader of the Official Opposition and Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, is hosting a conference, "Canada at 150: Rising to the Challenge," in Montreal. "Canada at 150: Rising to the Challenge" is about the future. Leading thinkers and doers from across Canada and from around the world will grapple with what Canada can and should be when we mark our 150th anniversary in 2017 and what must be done today to get there. We look to this conference as a way to start a dialogue about the big issues that will determine the future well being of Canadian families, individuals, and communities. A local group is currently organizing a special local event in Edmonton to coincide with the Montreal Conference. At this event we will watch a part of the Montreal Conference webcast as well as a town hall discussion on specific themes from our community’s perspective. More specific details about this event will be made available to you in the upcoming weeks. In the meantime, I hope that you will consider attending and becoming involved in this discussion. In accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Liberal Party of Canada in Alberta, and the General Meeting Bylaw, the Annual General Meeting and Policy Convention of the Liberal Party of Canada in Alberta is hereby called opening at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 30th, 2010 and closing on Sunday, May 2nd, 2010 at twelve (Noon). The LPCA Governing Council has directed that the following business shall be considered: (a) receipt of reports of the Officers and Chairs of Standing Committees; (b) receipt and approval of the Financial Statement; (c) adoption of policy resolutions in accordance with the Policy Bylaw; (d) adoption of constitutional amendments in accordance with the Constitution; (e) election of Officers; (f) such other business as may directed to be transacted by the LPCA Governing Council, or by the General Meeting.
