Your Local Electoral District Association
The Electoral District Association, known also as the riding or constituency association, is the basic unit for activity in the Party.
Members belong to the constituency association in which they reside to participate:
- in community activities
- in policy development
- to organize at the grassroots level in preparation for elections
- to be involved in the selection of a Liberal candidate and to help fight elections.
It is the constituency association which looks after the affairs of the Party at the local level both between and during election periods. Members of the association provide the base of delegates for conventions at both the provincial and national levels.
In general, every association holds an Annual General Meeting (AGM) each year at which their Executive Committee is elected and other general business, such as the reading of officers' reports and amending the riding association's Constitution, is conducted. It is the constituency association which also has the responsibility to conduct delegate selection meetings. The Associations conduct policy seminars, social functions, and information sessions to help foster public awareness of the goals of the Liberal Party and the platform for which it stands. Between elections, constituency associations also hold fundraising events and administer other local fundraising activities.
